October 2015 brought a second gold medal to Bravebird Publishing's flagship novel. Readers' Favorite honored our debut novel with the best in category award for fiction that tackles social issues.
How to Knock a Bravebird from Her Perch follows the journey of a young woman who gets in over her head when she unknowingly marries an abusive man. It is the first novel in the Morrow Girls series, which follows the children and grandchildren of Bravebird's main character.
Readers' Favorite also published a review of the novel, calling it:
The Readers' Favorite is a unique organization in that it is mostly comprised of authors. It's the Screen Actors Guild Awards of the book world. They are the fastest growing review and award website. The book awards also stand apart because the contest draws some of the biggest names in the industry (NYT bestsellers and celebrities) and pits them against independent authors.
D. Bryant Simmons's debut novel has collected a steady stream of good reviews, and now with it's second book award, proves that Simmons is a true contender. Please join us in celebrating this win!
